David Avila Law is a one man law firm based in Redwood City, CA. He specializes in juvenile defense, school expulsions and some adult criminal. He had a site that was 10 years old, and was one of the first lawyers in the San Francisco Bay Area to have a website.

When no one else had a website, his got a lot of traffic, but over the years traffic has slowly dwindled due to competitors getting sites and becoming more tech savvy.

With that in mind, the main goal of the site was to increase exposure and get back to the first page of Google. Since 1 or 2 more jobs a month is the main objective, I made sure to create pages with really niche searches in mind. This should increase traffic enough to have a measurable effect on his business.

Furthermore, when redesigning we wanted to make sure that he was easy to contact, since parents are often times freaking out and want immediate contact. Thus, big huge phone numbers were added to the header of the site. These are also clickable so people can call when viewing on a phone.

Lastly, we wanted to make sure that at a basic level all of his content is pretty straight forward and easy to read. When people come to the site they need to quickly be able to tell if he can represent them and if he can, they have to be able to contact him quickly. The more clicks, the less customers.

With that in mind, I wanted to make sure I put his speciality areas and contact info on every page, so regardless of how a visitor lands on his site, he can convert them to a customer.

It should be interesting to see the results this redesign has in a couple months time. Update to come!

What David Says

Kegan's a master web designer. Don't let the fact he looks like he could be a new member of One Direction fool you - this kid is wise beyond his tender years. He did an outstanding job on my law firm's soon-to-be-launched website, was ultra-responsive (even communicating and continuing to work on my site when he was on a month-long European vacation!) and his fees were more than reasonable. He's an extremely bright guy that could get a job at Google, Facebook, etc., at the drop of a hat, but he's taken the path less traveled, is doing top-notch work and the world is better off for it.
