I worked with a Shopify-based e-commerce brand to significantly improve both user experience and backend manageability. One of the core enhancements involved implementing a fully custom mega menu. To support this, I extended the Shopify admin by adding custom fields that allowed for dynamic menu population without the need for code changes. This gave the client control over multi-level navigation, including categories, promotional links, and featured products—all managed directly within the Shopify backend. The result was a more intuitive and scalable navigation system that greatly enhanced product discoverability.

In addition to navigation improvements, I enhanced the checkout experience by writing custom JavaScript to handle cart updates, conditional logic, and real-time validation. These scripts provided dynamic interactivity during the checkout flow, reducing friction for users and making the process more responsive. Whether it was adjusting shipping options based on cart contents or improving form feedback, the checkout became smoother and more user-friendly, leading to a more seamless path to conversion.

Beyond feature development, I conducted a full audit and cleanup of the site’s front-end code. This included refactoring Liquid templates, streamlining CSS and JavaScript, and removing redundant or outdated snippets. These changes not only improved site performance and load times but also made the theme easier to maintain and extend. The improvements contributed to a more consistent visual identity across pages and ensured that the codebase could support future marketing efforts and seasonal campaigns.

Altogether, the work delivered a faster, cleaner, and more flexible storefront, with tangible benefits for both end users and site administrators. The combination of UX enhancements and structural improvements positioned the brand for continued growth and long-term scalability on the Shopify platform.

Kegan is awesome to work with – can’t say enough positive things about him. He implemented full design changes to our Shopify website and not only did a super job, but he also was really easy to work with. He now does ongoing maintenance for us, and he’s really responsive and quick to fix any issues that arise. There hasn’t been anything he hasn’t been able to solve. He’s an excellent developer and super chill, which is a hard combo to find. I would highly recommend him!
